Galaxy MostlyHarmless Ends
After 35 turns Galaxy MostlyHarmless ended with a win for DentArthurDent played by Tim Elphick. Congratulations to Tim. MostlyHarmless was a newbie game that started out harmless but turned quite bloody in the end.
For those interested in seeing how the game evolved, the MostlyHarmless web pages now show for each turn, a map with the location and effective industry of all of the planets of each player. (Thanks to some nice code by Ken Weinert).

Saunter started
Galaxy Saunter started. Turn 1 ran yesterday (7 Oct 2007) and all players turned in orders, a good start. Saunter runs with a new version of the GalaxyNG engine. There are two major changes: (1) In this versions players are send their turn reports as an attachment, this should lead to less problems with turn viewers as the turn reports will be less polluted with auto generated headers and footers that mailers and virus scanners add. (2) The engine now does not allow you to upload cargo from other players planets when there is an enforced peace (Pax Galactica).

CargoXL, the race is on.

The race is on in CargoXL. Only seven more turn to go before it is decided who is the winner of the game. Which will be the one with the highest amount of effective industry. As you can see in the graph above there are atleast three players who have a chance of winning. UPS has been in first place for a long time now, but both Greenstuff and TheVirus are closing in fast. Looks like the last few turns are going to be exciting.

CargoXL Started.
The turn 0 reports of CargoXL have been send to the eight players that joined. Now lets see who can populate those planets the fastest and with what strategies the players come up with in a galaxy without working weapons.

New GalaxyNG Games Forming
Two new games are forming:
- Galaxy CargoXL. This game is about economy. In this game it is impossible to declare war on your neighbours. The goal develop all your surrounding planets as quickly as possible. Players start with two size 500 planets. The player that achieves the highest effective industry by turn 40 wins the game.
- Galaxy Harmless. This is a newbie game. In this game it is impossible to declare war on your neighbours for the first 30 turns.

Galaxy Malad Ended
After only a few turns Galaxy Malad ended because two of the three players dropped-out. I had high hopes for this game but I guess very small games to not work. The only player left, Johan Van Niekerk, will be entered in the hall of fame.

Galaxy Felixcaster Started.
Galaxy Felixcaster started. This is a custom game requested by two brothers. It is a fairly big galaxy with some giant planets hidden inside. The games uses the final orders principle which means that a turn runs as soon as both players indicate they are done with their orders. This means the game can move fast, after one day it is already at turn 3.
First and Second turn of Galaxy Malad
Galaxy Malad started with some difficulties. Of the three players only two players sent in orders. This partly ruined the design of the game. The idea was that with all home planets scattered randomly over the galaxy it would be impossible for a player to determine which planet belonged to which of the other two players. With one player gone, this become immediately visible. The other two players have been good sports and continued playing.

First turn of Bandra and MostlyHarmless
Turn 1 of Bandra and MostlyHarmless ran successfully. Only one player in Bandra did not sent in orders in time and had his race die an early dead. One player out of twenty-three is a good result. And that one case seems to have been a mistake as that same player plays in both games.

Galaxy Andheri Started
Galaxy Andheri has started and the turn 0 reports have been send to the players. Planets in Andheri are widely spaced so it will be a while before the first battles occur. Andheri runs twice a week on Monday and Friday. Andheri has its own web page.

The games must continue
Servers do sometimes crash and burn. In which case all the games at SIFAR would die an early dead. To ensure the games can resume after such an event all game data is automatically mailed to a gmail account after each run of a turn. Currently a gmail account gives you 3 Gigs of diskspace so there is room for plenty of turn data.
